What is TORFL?
Are you learning Russian but don't know how to motivate yourself? Pay attention to TORFL. This is the state testing system for Russian as a foreign language. With a TORFL certificate, you can study at a Russian university, work in a Russian-speaking company or open a business in Russia, and be proud of yourself.

TORFL is an international exam to determine the level of Russian language proficiency.
The levels of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language correspond to the CERF (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
6 levels of the Russian language
→ A1 (elementary) level of Russian
"language for survival"
You are ready to take the test if you can already tell about yourself and your family, talk about the place where you live and about the people you know, and you can also write simple personal letters, notes and messages, postcards, you understand texts of simple topics.
→ A2 (basic) level of Russian
to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation
At this level, you can talk about your dreams, hopes and desires, write simple texts that describe people, living conditions, study, work, you understand short texts of everyday communication.
→ В1 (first certification) level of Russian
for admission to universities and institutes of Russia
At this level, foreigners can already understand and support conversations on well-known topics, understand what is discussed in most radio and television programs, tell stories, express personal attitudes, and freely understand texts about facts and events if the topics are familiar.
→ B2 (second certification) level of Russian
for bachelor's and master's degrees
You are ready to take the test if you can already take an active part in the discussion, defend your point of view, write essays or reports which consider important questions with examples and assessment. At this level you understand articles and messages on contemporary issues, understand contemporary fiction.
→ C1 (third certification) level of Russian
to work as a philologist, translator, editor, journalist, diplomat
This level allows you to maintain any conversation in situations of professional and everyday communication, express your thoughts clearly and logically, write texts of certain topics and in a certain language style.
→ C2 (fourth certification) level of Russian
"carrier level", for teaching or science.
At this level, foreigners already freely and reasonably communicate on any topic, freely understand speech of a native speaker at a fast pace, write complex texts, reports or articles.
